At age 7 he continued his auditory/oral education at Clarke School for Hearing and Speech in Northampton, MA. In 1944 Harrison was able to live at home full time and be in the First Form (7th grade) at Kingswood School (now Kingswood Oxford School) in West Hartford, CT. When the Nuclear Power Division of Combustion Engineering was being built in Windsor, CT, Harrison was hired to be the on-site field auditor to monitor the construction of many buildings including a prototype nuclear reactor. He became involved in the startup of large scale main frame computers. The company sent him to many IBM classes in Hartford, Boston, Cincinnati, and New York City.
After six years at Combustion Engineering Harrison had the opportunity to manage a computer systems design and programming department at Landers, Frary and Clark in New Britain, CT where he worked for three years until the company went into bankruptcy in 1965 when they had product manufacturing problems. He soon landed a job as Manager of Programming at National Blank Book Company, Holyoke, MA where he worked for 23 years until his retirement.
Harrison and Sallie moved from Wilbraham, MA to Brooksville, ME in 1988 where they had summered for many years.
