Luther's Story

HARTLAND - Luther G. McDougal, 82, died peacefully on Friday, November 14, 2014, in Bangor. Luther was born on October 10, 1932, in Benton, Maine, the son of Ernest and Valti (Ward) McDougal, Sr.

He was a wonderful husband, father and provider. He loved music and enjoyed singing. He was a master electrician by trade and enjoyed his work very much. He had a gift of creating things that would help him do his work around the home. He loved music and enjoyed singing. He enjoyed teaching adults in Sunday School and was a member of the Hartland First Baptist Church for over 60 years. He will be missed by all who loved him.

He is survived by his loving wife of 61 years, Connie McDougal of Hartland; children, Colin McDougal and his wife, VerDonna, of Hartland, Catherine Johnson and husband, Bruce, of Moncton, New Brunswick and Jay McDougal of Hartland; grandchildren, Mark, Stephanie, Scott, Heather, Darci, Kyle and Duncan; great-grandchildren, Alexandria, Brooke, Peter Jr, Brianna, Camden, Alexandra, Olivier, Frederic and Annabelle; a granddaughter of his heart, Chasity Butler; two sisters, Marjorie Bubar and her husband, Wendell, of St. Albans and Mary Burrill of Brewer; and many nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his parents; siblings, Donald, Cyrus, Warren, Ernest Jr., Willis, Evelyn, Valti and Louise; and grandson, Paul.

A funeral service will be held at 3 p.m. Monday, November 17, 2014, at the Hartland First Baptist Church, 10 Elm Street, Hartland, with the Rev. Robert Philbrick officiating. A gathering will follow in the fellowship hall. A committal service will be held in the spring of 2015 at the Fuller Corner Cemetery, in Hartland.
