AUBURN - Louise Legendre Tardif, a longtime resident of 14 Cushman Place Auburn, died peacefully on the morning of August 15, 2014. Louise was born on April 2nd, 1930, the daughter of Alice Bergeron Legendre and Joseph Arthur Legendre. Louise loved sharing memories of her wonderful childhood. The positive impact of her immediate and extended family played a central theme in her joyful stories of growing up. She truly personified her parents' philosophy of hard work, forgiveness, positive thinking, and caring for others. On October 17, 1953 Louise married her first and true love, Leo A. Tardif. They subsequently bought a large house on Cushman Place and embarked on a lifelong series of tasteful renovations. Louise and Leo raised four children; Paul, Marc, Ray, and Rose Marie. She taught them to swim, ski and pursue adventure. She also imparted her love for animals and appreciation of music.
Louise possessed an unparalleled sensitivity to both the joy and suffering of others. Her concern was always genuine and she worked unselfishly to "make things better". The emergence of her grandchildren afforded her yet another opportunity to share love and kindness.
Louise is survived by her sister and best friend, Rose Marie Marcotte, as well as her beloved younger brother, Bob. She is also survived by her four children and their spouses, Theresa Gagne, Wendy Haynes Tardif, Cheryl Webb Tardif, and Peter Francis. Louise loved them all dearly. Her beloved grandchildren are Ryan, Michael, Thomas, Lauren and Janelle Tardif; Tucker, Noah, Elise, and Amie Francis; Brandon and Caitlyn Sperrey. She also cherished her nieces Madeline Martel, Claire Aube, Diane Legendre Webb, Karen Cook, and nephew David Marcotte.
Louise's greatest wish was for her family to thrive with love, joy, and support for each other. She was able to see the fruits of her efforts as her immediate and extended family attended to her throughout her illness.
The Tardif family wishes to express sincere appreciation to her care providers at CMMC and to the wonderfully gentle staff at Clover Manor.
