Louise's Story

ORONO - Louise A. Pease, 80, of Canaan, ME and Ft. Pierce, FL died at home with her family by her side. She is now at peace after a courageous two and a half year battle with ovarian cancer.

Louise was born April 5, 1934, in Hamden, Connecticut. Raised by her parents Nicholas and Rosaline (Gianelli) Colvano, Louise was predeceased by her birth mother, Suzie (DeMartino) Colvano at the age of two.

Louise graduated in 1956 from Albertus Magnus College, New Haven, CT. She later earned a Master's in Education from Southern Connecticut State College. She taught in the Branford, CT School System. An avid reader and former board member of the Canaan Library, she continued to mentor young readers and inspire young minds to pursue life-long learning. Louise volunteered in the communities where she lived. As a wife, mother, grandmother, sister, aunt and close friend, Louise exemplified what it means to be a caring, compassionate and true friend.

Louise is survived by her loving husband of 58 years, Edward Pease of Ft. Pierce, FL and Canaan, ME; her daughters, Carole West and husband Steven of Orono and Cynthia Pease of Orono, ME; son, Edward Pease and wife Christina of Carrabasset Valley, ME; grandchildren, Nicholas Starno of Shen Zhen, China; Sierra Starno of Naples, FL; Tyler Stratton of Boston, MA; Elizabeth Stratton of Hamilton, NY; Tre Pease of Carrabasset Valley, ME; Cohl Miller of Jacksonville, FL; Devon Adams of Carrabasset Valley, ME; and Tia Holt of Eastport, ME; brother, Thomas Colvano and wife Barbara of North Haven, CT and nieces and their families; in-laws, George Vogt; niece and family, Annie (Pease) FitzGerald and family, Dan and Shirley Pease and family; Ellen Pease, Rita Pease and many nieces, nephews, cousins, friends and their families.

Louise was predeceased by her parents, Nicholas and Rosaline Colvano; mother, Suzie Colvano; and sister, Annette Vogt.

The family would like to thank Dr. Andrescu, Theresa, Jan, Holly, Marcie, Ann and countless others who provided love and compassion during her time at Cancer Care of Maine. Also grateful to Carrie, Kim and Dr. VanKirk from EMH Hospice.

A time of visitation will be held from 5-7 p.m., Monday, January 12, at the Shorey-Nichols Funeral Home, 191 Hartland Avenue, Pittsfield. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 11 a.m., Tuesday, January 13, at the St. Agnes Catholic Church, 238 Detroit Street, in Pittsfield. A gathering will follow in the church fellowship hall.
