Lorraine's Story

BREWER - Lorraine R. "Lorrie" Stymiest, 83, died May 11, 2015 at her home in Brewer. She was born in Meadville, PA, the daughter of Arthur and Florence (Foulk) Strawbridge.

Lorrie, as she was known, was a longtime resident of Brewer. She worked for several years for Logistics Management Systems in Hermon before retiring. Lorrie was a founding member of the Brewer Lassie League for young girls and women, as well as the coach of the Blue Angels team. She enjoyed fishing, bowling, water and snow skiing, camping, Patriots football and playing golf at Pine Hill Golf Course, Bangor Municipal and several other courses around the state and country.

Surviving are two children, Leigh Stymiest of Pinellas Park, FL and Scott Stymiest and his wife, Barbara of Brewer; three grandchildren, Jared and his wife Cassie, Kristine and Jacqueline Stymiest; one sister, Jeannine Powell of St. Louis, MO; nieces and nephews, Kathy, Mike and Douglas Powell. She was predeceased by a sister, Marilyn Strawbridge and a nephew, Mark Powell.

A memorial service will be held 1 p.m. to 4 p.m. Sunday, May 17, 2015 at Lorrie's home at 4 Upland Road, Brewer where family and friends may share conversation and refreshments. Those wishing to remember Lorrie in a special way may make gifts in her memory to the Alzheimer's Association at alz.org. Arrangements by Kiley & Foley Funeral Service, 69 State St., Brewer.
