Lorraine's Story

LOWELL - Lorraine (Shorey) Jipson, 84, wife of George S. Jipson, passed away Sept. 8, 2014 at a Bangor healthcare facility. She was born Sept 7, 1930 in Lowell, the daughter of Samuel T. and Frances (Smith) Shorey.

Lorraine graduated from Lee Academy in 1948 and married George in August of that year. She owned and operated Saponac Lake sporting cottages for 15 years and worked as a CNA at Colonial Acres Nursing Home. She was a member of Escutarsis Grange and Burlington Bible Church.

In addition to her husband of 66 years, she is survived by two sons, Larry and wife, Candy of Corpus Christi TX, and Russell and wife, Bonnie of Kenduskeag; a daughter, Lawna and husband, Philip Robinson of Hermon; three granddaughters, Penny Jipson of Kenduskeag, Hillary Jipson of Kentucky, and Kelly Robinson of Hermon; two grandsons, Joshua Jipson of Kansas and Colby Robinson of Hermon; two sisters, Donna and husband, Doug McCafferty of Mattawamkeag, and Georgia Lane of Holden; two brothers, Elton and wife, Susan Shorey of Orono, and Samuel and wife, Pat Shorey of Mississippi. In addition to her parents, she was predeceased by a sister, Alta Barker and a brother, Wesley Shorey.

Friends may call from 5-7 p.m. Tuesday at Clay Funeral Home, 7 Lee Road Lincoln, where funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Wednesday, with Philip Robinson and the Rev. John Fennell officiating. Interment will be in Lowell Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, donations in her memory may be made to Lowell Fire Department.
