Old Town (Pea Cove)
- On August 14, 2016, surrounded by her loving family, Lorraine Lugdon Carr,, 77, passed peacefully into the arms of her heavenly family members.
Lorraine was born July 2, 1939 in Howland the daughter of Frank and Helene (Blake) Lugdon.
Lorraine spent her life caring for her family. She loved cross-country trips and especially those to Alaska where she visited family and was amazed at the scenery and the wildlife. One of her favorites was seeing the elk at Yellowstone National Park. She also enjoyed fishing, camping, the "campah round-ups", swimming at the YMCA, knitting or crocheting for her family members, time spent on the deck watching her hummingbirds and "watching Fred's Garden grow." In recent years Lorraine and Fred loved wintering in Lakeland, FL. where they made many special friends at Gator Creek RV Park.
Married for 58 years and 8 months Lorraine is survived by her loving husband Fred Carr of Old Town, her cherished daughters Deborah Judkins and husband Mike of Alton and Jo-Ellen Carr of Old Town. Her siblings Doreen Thibodeau and husband Rudy and Elnora Scofield and husband Larry all of Milford and Duane Lugdon and wife Diana of Bradley, sisters-in-law Judy Lugdon and Sharon Lugdon, as well as Fred's siblings and their spouses, a special Aunt Patricia Thompson of Howland as well as many nieces, nephews, cousins, and special friends.
She was pre-deceased by her infant son Frederick I. Carr Jr., her parents, brothers Arnold and Eugene Lugdon, and an infant sister Maxine.
In keeping with Lorraine's wishes a graveside service will be held for family and friends 3PM Thursday at Maple Grove Cemetery on Bennoch Road in Old Town (Pea Cove) officiated by Rev. Ron Wilbur. A gathering will be held immediately after at the Alton United Methodist Church dining area, Bennoch Road. In lieu of flowers the family suggests donations to The American Diabetes Association P.O.
