Lorita's Story

CLIFTON - Lorita Jo "Rita"McLaughlin Roberts, 57, passed away peacefully early Tuesday morning April 26, 2016 at her home after a long illness. She was born in Bangor, July 13, 1957, the daughter of Clifford and Pearl (Faulkingham) Gray.

Rita grew up and attended schools in Eddington and graduated from Brewer High School in 1975. Rita's career was diversified including assisting as a resident manager at Eddy Heights in Eddington for 10 years, raising Sheltie puppies and owner/manager of two businesses, Maine's Home Improvement Center and Picadilly Place Auctions, Brewer with Sheltie "MAC" by her side, in Hallowell. She was also a lifelong member of the Community of Christ Church in Brewer.

In addition to her parents, Rita is survived by her husband of 25 years, Jeffrey Roberts of Clifton; a daughter, Kellie Jo Blais and husband, Lee of Garland and stepson, Jeffrey Scott Roberts, Jr. and his wife, Sarah, whom was especially helpful in caring for Rita, both of Clifton; sister, Jane Billings and husband, Larry of Bangor; brother, Kenneth Gray and Pamela of Bangor; Rita was affectionately known as Meme by her grandchildren, Emma, Amanda, Nathan, Jeffrey III, Brittney, Robbie, Seth and Taylor. Rita was predeceased by first husband, Nathan McLaughlin in 1991.

Family and friends may visit 5 - 7 pm Thursday, April 28, at Kiley & Foley Funeral Service, 69 State St., Brewer. A service honoring Rita's life will be held at 2 pm Friday, April 29, 2016 at the Community of Christ Church, 128 Pierce Road, Brewer, with Chaplain Carl Bergman, presiding. Burial will be at Woodlawn Cemetery, Brewer. For those who wish, memorial contributions may be made to the Bangor Humane Society, 693 B Mt. Hope Ave., Bangor, ME 04401.
