Loretta's Story

FORT KENT - Loretta Thibodeau, 98, passed away peacefully with family by her side on June 28, 2016 at a Fort Kent Health Care Facility. She was born in St. Francis, November 26, 1917 the daughter of Raymond D. and Mattie A. (Nadeau) Pelletier.

She was the loving wife for 64 years to Omer A. Thibodeau who predeceased her in 2006. Loretta was a member of the: Cooperative Extension Service, Charter member of the NMMC Ladies Hospital Guild, Fort Kent Senior Citizens, Fort Kent Gulf Club, Lonesome Pine Trails, X-country Ski Club, Fort Kent Bridge Club, Local March of Dimes chairperson for 12 years, member of the Fort Kent Historical Society, Immunization clinic volunteer, Recipient Remember Me Award in 2016.

She is survived by her son Dr. Omer and his wife Maxine Thibodeau of Kennebunkport; daughter Anita and her husband Gary Hedstrom of Farmington; and son James and his wife Nancy Thibodeau of Cross Lake. She is also survived by 10 grandchildren, Ryan and his wife Ragan Hedstrom, Alec Thibodeau and partner Debora Dormody, Mamie Thibodeau, Heidi Hedstrom, Joel Thibodeau, Sara Thibodeau, Evangeline Thibodeau and her husband Michael Bartner, Monica and her husband Matthew Clark, Renee Thibodeau, and Paul and his wife Elizabeth Thibodeau; four great-grandchildren, Scarlet Bartner, Chandler Clark, Dylan Hedstrom, Opal Bartner; and special friend, Carol Jandreau.

In addition to her parents and husband, she was predeceased by one son, Paul R. Thibodeau; 5 sisters Oleda Heade, Frances Fielding, Albertine Breen Furlong, Fern Knight, Nicee Pelletier; and 3 Brothers Randolph, Leo, and Edwin (Kit) Pelletier.

Friends may call Tuesday July 5 from 6 to 8 p.m. and 9 am Wednesday until time of service at the Daigle Funeral Home, Fort Kent. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated 11 am Wednesday at St. Louis Catholic Church, Fort Kent, Committal services will follow in the parish cemetery.
