MILLINOCKET - Lois A. Berry, 72, passed away Wednesday, December 17, 2014, at the Gosnell Hospice House in Scarborough. She was born November 15, 1942 in Millinocket, the daughter of Fred A. and Pauline M. (Levesque) Portwine.
Lois grew up in Millinocket, and graduated from St. Martin's Catholic School with the class of 1960. She married Donald Berry in 1962, and for the majority of the next 35 years they lived in Waterbury, Connecticut, eventually retiring to Millinocket in the late 1990's. Lois worked in retail sales, managing department stores while in Connecticut, and then working as a cashier at Ames after returning to Millinocket. Lois enjoyed making ceramics, and was very talented at it. Her creations could match professional collectibles in their detail and craftsmanship.
She is survived by her husband of 52 years, Donald R. Berry of Millinocket; two sons, Donald R. Berry, Jr. and his wife Virginia of Bristol, CT, and David W. Berry and his wife Robyn of Millinocket; five grandchildren, Amielynn Niquette, Melissa Crocco, Jeffrey Berry, Jessica Berry, and Raymond Berry; six great grandchildren; three brothers, Richard Portwine and his wife Carol, Peter Portwine and his wife Carla, and Michael Portwine and his wife Robin; and several nieces, nephews, and cousins. Lois was predeceased by her parents.
Friends are invited to visit with the family 6-8 P.M. Sunday, December 21 at the Lamson Funeral Home, 11 Tamarack St., Millinocket, where funeral services will be held 11 A.M.
