Linda's Story

MONROE - Linda Joyce Reed, 60, died Monday October 5, 2015 with her loving family by her side at Waldo County General Hospital. She was born February 16, 1955 in Providence Rhode Island, the daughter of Thomas F. and Margaret D. (Kilduff) Smith.

Linda worked for and retired from J.C.Penney, She married her husband Norman A. Reed on February 14, 1992. After her retirement Linda became heavily involved in the Monroe community, volunteering at Monroe Elementary School as a Literacy Volunteer. She was very much loved by the students she worked with. She was also instrumental in restarting the Traveling Books Program. Linda was a very giving person with a huge heart. Her children and grandchildren were extremely important to her and one of her greatest accomplishments was helping with the delivery of her first grandchild. Linda was a cat lover and rescued many strays.

She is survived by her husband of 23 years, Norman, two daughters; Jessica LaMorge and her boyfriend Troy Oliver of Monroe, Michelle LaMorge and her boyfriend Jesse Weintraub of Bridgewater, MA., grandchildren Ashley LaMorge and Michael Grindrod, along with one grandchild on the way. She was known to her grandchildren as "Maamma." Linda is also survived by her father-in-law Dana Reed of Westport, MA., one brother, Robert Smith and his wife Mary of Coventry, RI., one brother-in-law, Linwood Reed and his wife Donna of CT., as well as several nieces and nephews. In addition to her family, she was also known as Mom and Grandmother to many non family members. Linda was predeceased by her parents.

Memorial donations in Linda's memory may be sent to the Monroe Elementary Playground Fund c/o Superintendent Office, 84 School Street, Unity, ME 04988. A celebration of life will be held on Sunday, Oct. 11th at 2PM at the Odd Fellows Hall, Jackson Rd, Monroe.
