GARLAND AND DEXTER - Linda Lee (Gilbert) Green, 66, passed away peacefully May 23, 2016 at Hibbard Nursing Home after a 12 year battle with lung cancer and a 2 year struggle with Alzheimer's disease. Linda was born November 9, 1949 in Dexter, a daughter of Marshall and Rachel (Cookson) Gilbert.
Linda attended Guilford schools and worked at Dexter Shoe Company in Dexter for many years. She also worked for several area potato farmers and Popeye's in Palmyra. Linda enjoyed family BBQs, horseshoes and spending time with her grandchildren and great grandchildren.
Linda always said she wanted to do two things before she died. See Bruce Springsteen and go to Alaska. She went to Alaska with her dear friend Rhonda Mason and they had a blast. Linda was also known for her cooking.
She will be greatly missed by her children, David and son Hunter, Melissa and children Jessica, Brandon, Derek, wife Missy and their children Shelby, Austin, and Becca, Tammy and husband Robert and their children Heather, Tyler and Cheyenne, Erin and her children Thomas, Johnny and Lacy Mae; and a special son in law Tom Morrill. She is also survived by her siblings, Marsha and husband Randy Quimby, and Debbie Bailey, all of Cambridge, Tom "Kiko" and wife Andrea Gilbert of Guilford, Frank and wife Linda Gilbert of Abbot, Darrell and wife Bonnie Gilbert of Ripley; her special aunt and uncle Merle and Jeannette Gilbert of Parkman, Thomasina Blanchard of Stetson; and aunt Maxine Cookson of Cambridge; special nephew Wilfred Murray of Dexter; as well as special friends Cindy Estabrook and Karen Woodard; several great grandchildren, including her special great grandson Spencer Cote.
She was predeceased by her husband Eugene Green in 2005, and a niece Kimberly Godsoe.
The family wishes to especially thank the Dexter Fire Department, Mayo Ambulance, and all of the staff at Hibbard Nursing Home for their care.
