LINDA's Story

BANGOR - Linda Marie Brooks, 68, died peacefully March 29, 2016, surrounded by her family and loved ones at her place of residence, after a courageous battle with cancer. She was born June 22, 1947, daughter of Oscar and Leta (Sewell) Pomeroy.

Linda loved butterflies and reading, and was very spiritual. Her greatest gift was what she gave to others around her, she had a tremendous heart and contagious personality. Linda had a great love for life, her children, her family and her friends. She will always be remembered for her perseverance and courage to overcome adversities in her life.

Linda was predeceased by her parents, Oscar and Leta Pomeroy; her daughter, Marie Hope Blake; and the love of her life, Bill Van Peursem. Linda is survived by her daughter, Flora and her husband, Paul Brown, of North Carolina; sons, Kevin Cooper of Lewiston and James and his wife, Angel, of Bangor; sisters, Doreen and her husband, Haywood, of Clifton and Tina Asay of Dixmont; brother, Mike and his wife, Donna, of Dixmont; several grandchildren, great-grandchildren, nieces and nephews; many close friends to include, Peggy, Jane, Sister Peggy, Maria, Lisa, Lee and so many more that touched Linda's life. The family wants to thank all of the health professionals at St. Joseph Hospital and CancerCare of Maine.

A celebration of Linda's life will be held at her place of residence on Friday, April 1, 2016. In lieu of flowers, Linda would like you to make any donations to the CancerCare of Maine.
