- Lillian Newcomb was joined eternally with her Heavenly Father on January 7, 2017. She was lovingly supported in that final journey by her family. All of her family members give a very warm appreciation to her granddaughter Ginger for the kind and consistent in-home care which she provided to her grandmother during those last most challenging months.
Lillian was born April 2, 1928 in Cambridge, MA to Percy and Ella Hyson. Lillian provided 30 years of service to the CA Newcomb School in Carmel. She will be fondly remembered as both "Ms. Lilly" and "Grammy" by the thousands of children that passed through the school's lunch lines. She leaves behind many harmonious melodies from piano lessons she taught throughout her life time.
Relationships were Lillian's priority. Whether relative or friend, nothing was of greater value and she simply answered the call whenever it came. She gave whatever was asked of her and sacrificed when it became necessary to meet the needs of another. She listened without judging and offered advice only when asked. She never imposed an opinion or showed bias. Lillian's large family was her joy and her legacy is her unconditional love.
She is survived by her children and their spouses, Keven & Cindy Newcomb, Aaron & Lori Newcomb, Timothy & Cindy Newcomb and Patricia Dearborn & Glen Glazier; along with her 19 grandchildren, 25 great grandchildren, 3 great-great grandchildren and countless nieces, nephews and friends. They will cherish memories of her patience, wisdom, generosity and her nurturing presence.
She was predeceased by her husband James Newcomb and her daughter Pamela Cohen.
A memorial service will be held at 11 A. M. Saturday, January 21st at the Church of the Restoration, U.S. Route 2, Carmel, with the Rev. Timothy Newcomb officiating. Spring burial will be in the Highland Cemetery, Carmel. Arrangements are by Crosby & Neal, 117 Main Street, Newport. Those who wish may leave written condolences at www.CrosbyNeal.com
