BREWER - Lillian H. Martin, 68, died May 20th, 2015, at EMMC in Bangor after a year-long battle with cancer. Lill was born in Bangor on October 4th, 1946, the only daughter of the late Lester Martin and Philomene (DeCesaro) Martin.
Lill was educated in Bangor schools and was a 1964 graduate of Bangor High School. She worked in the shoe industry for many years, at Bangor Shoe and Ansewn Shoe. She later worked in retail at Miller's in Brewer, Brewer IGA and Good Will in Bangor.
Lill was a great bowler and traveled all over the country to different tournaments, making many friends along the way. She was a longtime member of the Auxiliary of FOE #3177 in Brewer.
Lill is survived by her only brother, Jim Martin, of Bangor. She is also survived by her nieces and nephew, Lillian Rouse, Jimetta Martin, Amy Martin and Jarrett Martin, as well as many great-nieces and nephews. She is also survived by her aunt and husband, Nina and Tom Shamberger of Westminster, MD and their daughters, Stacy Shamberger and Julie Shamberger.
In addition to her parents, she was predeceased by her very special "Aunt Coke", Colleen (DeCesaro) Eddy, who was like a mother to her. She is also survived by her cousins, Thomasina Watson, Monica Bronson, Deborah Colman, Martin Allen Harris, Karen Ward, John Eddy and special cousin, Renee Eddy.
Lill is also survived by her best friend of many years, Nona Treworgy, and Nona's special daughter, Jane Hewes, who was very devoted to Lill, and who Lill thought of as a daughter.
Per Lill's request there will be no services. Those who wish to remember Lill in a special way may make gifts in her memory to Cancer Care of Maine, 33 Whiting Hill, Brewer, ME 04412, where she received wonderful care and treatment by the doctors and nurses.
