WARREN - Lewville H. Pottle, 88, passed peacefully at the Maine Veteran's Home in Augusta on Saturday morning, October 3, 2015 after a long illness.
He was born in Warren on March 6, 1927, the son of Lewville J. and Mildred Robinson Pottle. A graduate of Rockland High School in 1945, Lew served as an MP in Italy during World War II. He worked for Swift & Company in Augusta and Rockland for 36 years. He and his wife Jill C. Pottle were married 65 years ago on September 21, 1950.
After retiring, Lew and Jill enjoyed traveling in their RV, including 19 winters spent in Nokomis, Florida where they made many lifelong friends. A member of the Second Congregational Church in Warren for 65 years, Lewville served as Trustee and Senior Deacon for 33 years. He was also a member of the Camden Association, and an active supporter of Coastal Opportunities for many years.
Lewville was preceded in death by a brother, Paul Pottle and his wife Louise; a sister, Marion Reed and her husband Howard; nieces, Crystal Eaton and Cindy Fales; a nephew, Ronnie Reed; his sister-in-law, Annette Overlock and her husband Ted; and a brother-in-law, Russell Fales.
He is survived by his wife, Jill; his sister-in-law, Rae Fales; nephews, Rusty Fales, Robin Overlock and Fred Overlock; nieces, Donna Creamer, Vicky Terwilliger, and Pam Doherty; and the families of his nieces and nephews.
