Lewis's Story

KENDUSKEAG - Lewis H. White Jr. passed away very peacefully at home surrounded by his loving family on April 23, 2015, after a long illness. He was born on January 10, 1938, in Kenduskeag, to Lewis and Bernice (Noddin) White.

On January 27, 1973, he married the love of his life, Linda (Sawyer) White. They enjoyed 42 years of great times spent with their children, grandchildren, family and friends. Herbie loved going to church every Sunday and his church family meant a great deal to him. He spent many years on the property and maintenance committee and drove the church van when needed. He enjoyed a long career as a heavy truck mechanic at various locations.

He is survived by his loving wife, Linda; his five children, Susan White, Bonnie Burris and husband, Robert, Michael White and wife, Jennifer, Wendell White and wife, Robin, and David White and wife, Melissa; his grandchildren, which were his pride and joy, Christy Sue Smith-Pickrel, Megan Foisy, Ashley Borders, Joshua White, Lindsey White, Brett White, Courtney White, Autumn White and Isabella White; a great-grandchild, Olivia Borders; and two sisters, Yvonne Dunton and Dody Ely. In addition to his parents, he was predeceased by his very special stepmother, Mary White.

Funeral services will be held 2 p.m. Sunday, April 26, 2015, at the Hermon Baptist Church with the Rev. Garnett Chute, pastor, officiating. The family invites relatives and friends to share conversation and refreshments in the church fellowship hall immediately following the service. Interment will be held at a later date.
