Leroy's Story

MEDWAY - Leroy Austin Thompson, 73, went home to be with the Lord April 15, 2015, at EMMC, Bangor. He was born Sept. 7, 1941, in Medway, the son of Norman and Jennie (York) Thompson.

He was predeceased by his wife, Ruth Coombs Thompson, and his infant son, James Thompson.

Leroy worked at several jobs including Great Northern Paper, Grant's Dairy, road building in Millinocket and driving a Medway school bus. For 30 years, Leroy was a custodian at the Medway Middle School, retiring in 2003. Leroy attended the Medway Church of God faithfully for most of his life and was known by all as a faithful man of God.

He is survived by one brother, Norman Thompson and his wife, Coralee of Medway; and one sister, Beulah Peters and her husband, Woodford Peters of Mattawamkeag. Also, several nieces and nephews whom he dearly loved.

Friends call from 6 to 8 p.m. Saturday, April 18, 2015 at Mattawamkeag Church of God where funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. Sunday, with the Rev. Gerald Craig and Leonard Albert officiating. Interment will be in Grindstone Road Cemetery at a later date.
