- Leroy Robert Duplisea, 84, went home to be with his Lord October 4, 2016, after a long illness, surrounded by family members. He was born March 23, 1932, in Fort Fairfield, a son of Elmer and Dorothy (Hamilton) Duplisea.
Leroy was a proud U. S. Army combat veteran of the Korean War having served in an artillery unit as a Staff Sargent in Korea. He had been employed as a hand sewer at Dexter Shoe Company for many years before becoming self-employed as Roy's Radiator Service, fixing automotive radiators, selling chain saws, lawn and garden equipment. After retirement he enjoyed working part time for Motor Supply delivering parts.
Above all things, Roy loved and treasured his family. Hunting, fishing, camping, hiking and snowmobiling were a few of the ways he enjoyed spending time with them. Golfing was also a passion of his, which included a hole-in-one of which he was proud. He was a capable pilot and enjoyed golfing along the east coast.
Roy is survived by his wife of 57 years, Theodora "Dody" Duplisea; sons, David and wife Kimberly and Allen and fiancée "Tootsie" MacDonald; grandchildren, Christopher and wife Heather, Brian, Rita and husband Garrett Jeskey, Joanie and husband Del Guthzeit, and Alicia Joslin; 8 great grandchildren including Autumn and Ellie who visited often; sister, Elizabeth "Sid" Reynolds; sister-in-law, Norma Duplisea; several nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his son Kenneth on March 21, 2016; brothers, Alvin "Bud" and wife Connie, and Garfield Duplisea.
Friends may call from 6-8 p.m. Friday at Crosby & Neal, 117 Main Street, Newport, where funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday, October 8th, with the Rev. Lewis Bell officiating.
