BRADFORD - Leroice "Bing" Oakes, 95, passed away at a Bangor hospital after a short illness on December 10, 2013. He was born June 20, 1918 the son of Arnold and Ida Oakes.
His loving wife Helen Brigham Oakes of 54 years predeceased Bing. He retired from St. Regis in 1979.
Bing was a member of the Grange, the Bradford Odd Fellows & Rebekah lodges as well as a member of the Charleston VFW. He enjoyed a long and happy retirement and could be be seen around town visiting and talking with others. Bing is survived by his brother Chet Oakes and sister Jane Osgood, his daughter Ruby Lawyer of St. Cloud FL, his devoted daughter Carlene Oakes of Bradford, ME his sons Carl Oakes and wife Rhonda of Alexander, ME and son Richard Oakes and his wife Jeannie of Milford, ME.He will be greatly missed by nine grandchildren, 14 great grandchildren, 16 great great grandchildren and several nieces and nephews.
There will be a graveside service held at the Williams Commentary in Bradford on Saturday, May 24, 2014 at 11:00 AM Gregory Oakes will officiating.
