Leonette's Story

EAGLE LAKE - Leonette "Nan" Pelletier, 83, died at a facility in Eagle Lake on January 31, 2015, from an extended illness. She was born on April 17, 1931, in Wallagrass, daughter of Ulysses and Caroline (Marin) Theriault.

She graduated from Fort Kent Community High School in 1949, and married the love of her life, Leopold "Paul" on August 16, 1950. She began sewing clothing and taught sewing at Fort Kent Adult Education in 1977. She began teaching quilting in the late 1980's. She was in the beginning of Northern Neighbor Quilters and was president for 4 separate years, vice president for 2 separate years. She was State Quilter of the year for Area 7 by the Pine Tree Quilters Guild in 2008. She made many beautiful quilts for many years and taught several people how to quilt. She did lots of downhill skiing until age 69. Had skied in several states in the east and west of the United States and had also skied in Canada and in Europe. She was a very active person, had many friends and was loved by all.

She is survived by two children, Caroline Pelletier Cyr of Eagle Lake, David P. Pelletier and his wife, Beverly (Taggett) Pelletier of Fort Kent; seven grandchildren, who called her "Kowie", Christine (Dube) Layman and husband, Shane of Bradley, Kenneth Dube of Plaisted, Phillip Dube and wife, Makenzie of Gonic, N.H., Julia(Pelletier) Gardner and husband, Tyler of Lincoln, Darrin Pelletier and wife, Ashley (Hafford) Pelletier of Fort Kent, Andrea Pelletier and fiancée, Keith Vallincourt of Fort Kent, and Abbie Pelletier in relationship with Zach of Pittsfield; five great-grandchildren, Dominique Layman, Gabriella Layman, Estelle Dube, Ava Gardner and Audri Pelletier; siblings, Lorraine Wilson, Danford Theriault, and Lucien Theriault. She was predeceased by her son, Andrew Pelletier of Fort Kent, who died May 10, 2013, and her husband, Paul, who died on January 1, 2007. She was also predeceased by siblings, Bertha Jacques, Guy Theriault, Bernice Desjardins, Euclide Theriault, Bernadine Pooler, Claude Theriault, and Reynald Theriault.

There will be no calling hours. A memorial Mass will be on February 7, 2015, at 11:00 AM at Sacred Heart Church in Soldier Pond. She will be buried in Frenchville St. Luce Cemetery. After the Mass there will be lunch at the Knights of Columbus Hall in Fort Kent. Contributions in her memory may be made to Edger J.
