Fort Kent - Leonard 'Garcon' Dubois, 87, died peacefully with family by his side on April 15, 2017, at a Fort Kent Health care facility and is now living his fourth day. He was born in Fort Kent, June 9, 1929, the son of Thomas and Sophie (Paradis) Dubois.
Garcon served in the US Army from 1951 to 1953 during the Korean Conflict. He worked for Great Northern Lumber Company as a heavy equipment operator for 45 years and continued doing what he loved part time after retiring.
He was a member of the Lozier O'Grady Post #9609 and life member of the Fourth Degree Knights of Columbus Council # 0352, both of Fort Kent.
In addition to his beloved wife Edna (Nadeau) Dubois of 62 years of Fort Kent he is survived by three sons; David and wife Pamela Dubois of Winslow, Msgr. Rev. Andrew Dubois of Portland, Charles and wife Betty Dubois of Lisbon. Five daughters; Judy and husband George Ouellette of East Millinocket, Susan and husband Rosaire Marquis of Brunswick, Claire Moss of Fort Kent, Patricia and husband Leland Pinette of Wallagrass, Christine and husband Heath Kinney of Eddington, 14 grandchildren; Nicholas, Ann Marie, Pamela, Stacey, Joshua, Mark, Andrew, Nicole, Michelle, Tyler, Christopher, Felicia, Sawyer, and Hayley May. Nine great-grandchildren; Abby, Emma, Aidan, Hayden, Lilly, Charlotte, Caleb, Kyrie and Tucker. One brother, Clarence Dubois of North Carolina, and by many nieces, nephews and cousins.
In addition to his parents Garcon was predeceased by one grandson Travis and four sisters; Jeannette Deprey, Juliette Pelletier, Maria Dubois, Una Theriault and one brother, Norman Dubois. He will be dearly missed by his family and friends.
Friends may call Monday, April 17, 2017, from 6 to 8 p.m. and Tuesday 9 to 10:45 a.m. at the Daigle Funeral Home, Fort Kent. A Mass of Christian burial with full Military and Fourth Degree honors will be celebrated 11 a.m., Tuesday, Apr. 18, 2017, at St. Louis Catholic Church, Fort Kent. Spring burial will be held in the parish cemetery.
