Lena's Story

WILLINGTON, CONN. & MILBRIDGE - Lena N. Kelley, age 87, resident of St. Joseph's Living Center in North Windham, Conn. passed away peacefully on April 23, 2016 with her family at her side. She was born in Milbridge, on April 29, 1928, the daughter of Millard & Lena (Sprague) Ray. Lena was raised in Milbridge and on July 2, 1950 married her husband, Albert F. Kelley of Milbridge.

In 1957 Lena moved to Connecticut with her husband to raise their two children and make a better living. Lena worked for the University of Connecticut, in Storrs, Conn. for over 30 years. After retiring Lena and her husband spend their early retirement years residing in their new home in Milbridge during the spring and summer months, returning to their Connecticut home during the winter.

Lena was an avid UConn Women's Basketball fan. She also enjoyed cooking, baking and spending time with friends and family. She was a member of the Westford Congregational Church of Ashford Ct and Milbridge Congregational Church.

Lena is survived by her son, Albert F. Kelley Jr and wife Debra of St Augustine Florida; a daughter, Sandra A. Ouellette and husband Milford of Ashford Ct; two grandchildren, Scott A. Kelley of St. Augustine, Florida and Ryan M. Kelley and wife Rebecca of Boynton Beach, Florida; and one great grandson, Nathan Kelley of St. Augustine, Florida. Lena also is survived by her dear friend and cousin, Helen Strout of Milbridge.

Calling hours will be at Bragdon-Kelley Funeral Home in Milbridge on Friday, 29th of April from 4pm-6pm. Funeral Service will be held on Saturday, April 30th at 2 pm, at the Milbridge Congregational Church, Bridge St., Milbridge, Maine. She will be laid to rest in Evergreen Cemetery next to her husband.
