Lawris's Story

BLUE HILL - Lawris A. "Lonnie" Perkins, 55, beloved son, brother and father, passed away at home on November 25, 2015, following a lengthy and courageous battle with cancer. He was Born in Blue Hill, August 25, 1960, and was a graduate from George Stevens Academy.

Lonnie worked with his grandfather for many years on the farm, harvesting wood and blueberries. Later, he was employed by electrician, Mike Snow.

Lonnie loved the outdoors. He was an avid hunter and fisherman. He loved his gardens, growing enough to feed anyone who happened along. Lonnie was a talented finish carpenter and his work was admired by many. He was always there to help anyone in need. Lonnie was many things - wild as a hawk - curious as a chipmunk - prickly as a quill pig - with a big heart.

Lonnie is survived by his partner of many years, Geraldine Nevells; daughters, Joelle Perkins of Massachusetts, Mandy Hutchinson of North Carolina; granddaughter, Shayleigh; parents, Norman Perkins and "Bonus Mom" Marie of Surry; mother, Jacqueline Rossi of Blue Hill; brothers, Donnie Perkins and wife, Etta and Timothy Perkins of Blue Hill; sister, Lisa Ruby and husband, Rick of North Carolina; many nieces, nephews and friends.

As per Lonnie's wishes, his ashes will be spread on his blueberry field, located on Blue Hill Mountain. A celebrate of life will be scheduled at a later date. All are welcome.
