Lawrence's Story

BANGOR - Lawrence Malcom Rosebush, 94, husband of the late Jane (Prymas) Rosebush, passed away June 21, 2015, at St. Joseph Hospital in Bangor. His ever-loving daughter was right beside him as he drew his last breath. He was born March 4, 1921, in Bancroft, ME, the son of William and Melvina (Caron) Rosebush.

Lawrence graduated from Brownville Jct. High School in 1939, then attended Farmington Normal School, where he earned his teaching degree. He furthered his education, earning his Master's degree at Boston University. He loved his years in Boston and stayed in touch with his classmates both at Farmington and Boston through all of his years.

Education was key to Mr. Rosebush. He rose through the ranks until he eventually served as Superintendent of the Whitesboro School District in Whitesboro, New York. He was very proud of the work he did to make the reputation of that district excellent. His son and daughter followed in his footsteps, also devoting their lives to the education of others.

Lawrence was an avid lover of nature! He loved feeding the birds and squirrels. He also was a human being whom dogs adored. He was involved in sports, including basketball and track. He especially loved to ski and play golf. He enjoyed snowmobiling at and around Ebeemee, where he had his "Pine Point" camp, his favored get-away! He loved spending time there where he could "commune with nature," as he so fondly said; and where he was surrounded by many loved ones, both family and friends.

Lawrence will be remembered for his optimism, his warmth, and his wonderful sense of humor. He had so many stories to tell! His loved ones will recount them for years to come! His memory will be kept forever alive!

He is survived by a daughter, Joan Marie Rosebush of Burlington, VT, and her long-time companion Carl Shepard; a daughter-in-law, Lori Rosebush and her husband, Mark of Roundup, Montana; a grandson, Daniel John Rosebush and his wife, Brooke, his great granddaughter, Payton Claire, of Dover-Foxcroft; and several nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by a son, Richard Lawrence; brothers, Theo, Willard, Paul, Louis, Bernard, Maurice, Arthur; and sisters, Madeline and Edith.

Friends are invited to call 6-8pm Friday, June 26, 2015, at the Lary Funeral Home, Dover-Foxcroft. A funeral service will be conducted 11am Saturday, June 27, at Sts. Francis Xavier and Paul the Apostle Catholic Church, Milo, with Deacon Fred Harrigan officiating. Burial will be in the family lot in Lee Cemetery, Dover-Foxcroft.
