Lawrence's Story

FORT PIERCE, FL AND NEWBURYPORT, MA - Lawrence (Larry) K. Barthelemy Jr. passed away on October 6th, 2014 after a long journey with Alzheimer's. He was born on October 25th, 1927, the son of the late Lawrence & Eva (Bates) Barthelemy.

Larry is survived by his wife of 66 years, Elinor (Champoux) and their four children: Ken and his wife, Joyce of Rhode Island, Lawrence III and his wife, Tina of South Carolina, daughter: Cheryl and her husband, Mark Roy of Connecticut and Mark and his wife, Cathie of Florida. Larry also leaves behind seven grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren.

Larry was a self-made self-educated man who served as an aviation radio man (instructor) in the United States Navy during WWII from 1944 to 1946. After leaving the Navy, Larry worked as an electronics engineer with CBS Hytron and ITEK, ran the family appliance business and retired as a Quality Control Inspector of Nuclear Power Plants. His favorite pastimes were dancing with his wife, tinkering in his garage and most of all going on long rides. Larry was a life member of the Florida VFW Post 15010 and the Caribou, Maine, American Legion Post 15.

A private celebration of Larry's life will be held by the family at a later date. In lieu of flowers, the family request that donations in his memory be made to Treasure Coast Hospice here in Florida ( or the Alzheimer's Association ( Fountainhead Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
