Larry's Story

MACHIAS - Larry (Mike), 72, lost his battle with mesothelioma lung cancer on October 2, 2014.

Born in Duluth, MN on December 21, 1941 to Alfred & Ruby Tafs.

Survived by his loving wife of 44 years, Mary (Robinson) Tafs. Daughter Lisa and husband Daniel Baker, son Michael Tafs, daughter Toni and husband Mike Ferzoco. 7 grandchildren; Michael, Kyle, Kristen, Russell, Dominic, Anthony and Vincent. Great grandchildren; Hayden and Scarlett. Brother William and wife Joe of Georgia, brother Wayne and wife Kathy, sister Trudy and husband David Johnson, sister Sherry and husband Mark Temke all of Minnesota. Many nieces and nephews and special friends; too many to list. Sister-in-law & brother-in-law Roberta and Allen Hall. A special dog, Oscar.

Joined the Navy at age 18 with his two brothers and served his country for 13 years, was in the Civil Service for 15 years, was Service Manager at R.H. Foster for 15 years, and worked at Rite Aid for 10 years.

Larry really loved to play sports, especially golf. He enjoyed watching his grandchildren playing sports even right up until the end he tried not to miss a game. He took his family on vacations and trips every year. He loved to fix things and kept busy with projects around the house and did his own work on his cars. He loved taking care of his family and would do anything he could to make it happen.

At Larry's request, there will be no service.
