Larry's Story

Text size

Orland - Larry Paul Freilino, 63, went to be with the Lord March 15, 2017, after a long battle with pancreatic cancer. He was born on January 8, 1954, in Teaneck, NJ, the son of the late Fredrick and Loretta Freilino of Westwood, NJ, and Orland.
He fell in love with Maine during trips with his family to their summer cabin in Orland. He decided to stay when he was 17 years old to continue enjoying Maine, working, and finishing high school in Bucksport class of 1973.
If you knew Larry, you know that he is one of the hardest, most reliable workers you have ever met. He worked for 17 years at various local IGA's and 28 years for Hannaford. He also found "home" working at the Blue Nose Inn over the past few years. Within the past year, while battling cancer, he won employee of the year at Hannaford in Ellsworth.
He enjoyed kayaking, being outside, and spending time with friends and family. He was a loving father, grandfather and husband and will be missed by all.
He is survived by his loving wife Sharon Freilino of 37 years, daughters; Polly and Jennifer Prewitt-Freilino of Smithfield, RI, as well as daughter Jen Freilino and husband Richard Vorwerk of Little Rock, AK, He leaves behind one granddaughter Lillie Prewitt-Freilino, niece Trisha and husband Loren Mastin of Mound, MN, as well as sister-in-law Brenda and niece Brittany DeHaven of Cromwell, CT.
Family and friends will gather for visitation from 6-8 p.m. on Friday, March 17, 2017, at Mitchell-Tweedie Funeral Home, 28 Elm Street, Bucksport. Funeral service will be held at 11 a.m. on Saturday, March 18, 2017, also at Mitchell-Tweedie Funeral Home with Pastor Peter Remick officiating. Burial will be at Oak Grove Cemetery in Orland later in the spring.
Those who wish to remember Larry may make a memorial contribution to the Lafayette Cancer Center of Brewer C/O EMHS, P.O. Box 931, Bangor, ME 04402-0931. We are forever grateful for the support and care they have provided Larry and our family throughout his treatments. (mitchelltweedie-young.com)
