GRAY - Katie Corbett Stanhope, 37, peacefully brought an end to her chronic pain on June 13th, 2016 after a long struggle she could no longer continue.
Katie was born on November 17th, 1978, in Portland, Maine, the daughter of Gordon and Ruth (Estabrook) Corbett. She graduated from Greely High School in 1997 and summa cum laude from USM in 2002 with a degree in Psychology. After graduation, she worked at Tri-County Mental Health and, later, at Pineland Farms Market.
Katie was a creative and loving person. She enjoyed making art, including drawing, painting and sculpture. She experienced life's joy and pain deeply, connecting with others along the way. Through it all, she had a zany sense of humor appreciated by friends and family.
Family was the center of Katie's life and Katie was truly the center of family gatherings, bringing her cheerful presence to birthday parties, cookouts, and holiday gatherings. These were times when she enjoyed herself most. Katie was devoted to her son, as well as her niece and nephew.
She is survived by her husband, Kevin; son, Asher; parents Gordon and Ruth Corbett of North Yarmouth; sister Erica Corbett Klein and husband Christian and children George & Vivian of Portland, as well as many extended family members.
A memorial service is scheduled for Tuesday, June 21st at 1:00 at Gray Congregational Church. Reverend Annette Mott will officiate the ceremony. A remembrance time will follow. All are welcome to attend and celebrate Katie's life.
