Kathy J. Gunther, 59, of Madison, passed away with her family at her side on Wednesday, September 28, 2016, after a brave fight against cancer.
Kathy was born in Old Town, Maine on December 17, 1956, one of six children. She was a graduate of Skowhegan High School.
She was employed as a certified nursing assistant for 22 years at Maplecrest Rehabilitation Center in Madison, and worked at other local nursing homes including Woodlawn and Cedar Ridge in the 12 years prior. Kathy was also passionate about providing home health care to family friends through the years.
Kathy enjoyed being outdoors; playing softball, biking, camping, gardening, having campfires, and bird watching. She loved humming birds the most, as well as drawing and being with her family.
She was predeceased by her husband, Austin Gunther, who died on July 25, 1982.
Kathy is survived by her two daughters; Kristie Black of Brooks and Loretta Pease and her husband David of Madison. She is also survived by her grandchildren; Ava and Austin Black as well as Ashley and Hannah Pomeroy, and siblings; Allen Burns, Patrick Burns, Diana Gray and Mike Burns and several nieces and nephews.
