N. MONMOUTH - Kathryn Adams, of N. Monmouth, our beautiful daughter, step daughter, sister, aunt, cousin, niece and friend passed away on April 14, 2016 at Hospice House in Auburn after a brief struggle with cancer. Her loving family was at her side.
Kathy was born in Presque Isle on January 7, 1962, the first daughter to Earl and Barbara (Bernard) Adams. She graduated from Winthrop High School in 1980 and the University of Maine in 1985. She was a very bright, intelligent young woman who qualified for MENSA as a teenager. After a journey to California she returned to Maine and was employed by the State at the Department of Human Services. She then worked for a number of years as a paralegal at the Lipman-Katz law firm in Augusta. She then returned to her career with the State as a Senior Consumer Assistance Specialist with the Maine Public Utilities Commission.
Kathy was predeceased by her mother, Barbara Bernard Adams, grandparents Rufus and Eileen Bernard of Caribou and Leroy and Kathleen Adams of Presque Isle, and her uncles Walter Adams and Richard Irving, both of Presque Isle.
She is survived by her father and step mother, Earl and Sheila Adams of Pittston; her beloved sister, Susan Adams of Augusta; step brothers, Ethan (Amanda) Stevens of Chelsea and Ivan (Amy) Stevens of Augusta. She will also be missed by her niece, Peyton Stevens and nephews, Cameron Stevens, Brandon Stevens and Isaac Stevens; her uncle, Richard (Jan) Adams of China, ME and her aunts, Patricia Irving of Sarasota, FL, Lucy Jane Adams of Presque Isle and Brenda (Nason) Reid of Portsmouth, NH; and many cousins.
At Kathy's request, there will be no calling hours and no funeral; however, she wants her family and friends to know how much she loved and appreciated them. A celebration of her life will be held at a future date.
Donations may be made in Kathy's memory to a charity of your choice, or you can simply do something kind for someone, as she always did.
