- Kathie May (Worster) Knowles, 65, passed away peacefully on Wednesday, January 4, 2017, after a yearlong battle with cancer. She was born August 21, 1951, in Caribou, the eldest daughter of the late Maland and Marie (Belmain) Worster.
Kathie married Ralph Knowles on March 10, 1973, and they resided in Corinna, the town in which they both grew up and attended school. She graduated from Nokomis Regional High. They raised their children, Kristie and Craig, while Kathie worked as a bank teller and at Gilman Electric, while Ralph managed Fernald's Market. In 1987, they moved to Brewer and both worked in the banking industry until they retired and moved to Palmyra. Some of her favorite moments were time spent with family enjoying Maine coastal destinations and the White Mountains of New Hampshire. She loved watching her grandchildren at their school sporting and music events. She liked her quiet time too; she had a passion for reading, especially her Bible as she had a strong faith in Christ. Kathie will always be remembered as a kind, loving mom, wife, sister and friend. She always brought joy to those around her with her beautiful smile and kindness to others.
In addition to her husband of Palmyra, Kathie is survived by their children, Kristie (Knowles) and husband, David Jandreau, and grandchildren, Sabrina and Nathan Jandreau, all of Winslow, and Craig Knowles and significant other, Toni Reed, and her son, Joshua Reed, all of Stockton Springs; her siblings, Nancy and husband, Michael Mullis, of Corinna, Patty and husband, Jeff Dorman, of Exeter, Debra and husband, Peter Seamans, of St Albans and Maland "Jim" and wife, Deborah Worster, of Plymouth; Kathie's in-laws, Dennis and wife, Penny Knowles, of Sanford, Larry Knowles of Plano, Texas, and Elaine and husband, Donald Knowles, of Bangor. Kathie had many beloved aunts, uncles, cousins, nieces and nephews that she cherished. She was predeceased by her mother-in-law and father-in-law, Thurlow and Hilma Knowles, formerly of Corinna.
The family would like to the staff of EMMC and Beacon Hospice Care of Bangor for their compassionate care during this difficult time.
Kathie requested a graveside ceremony to be held in the spring at Morse's Corner Cemetery in Corinna. Arrangements are by Crosby & Neal, Newport. Those who wish may leave written condolences at www.CrosbyNeal.com.
