Judith's Story

ELLSWORTH - Judith Diane Moore, 67, died September 2, 2014. She was born in Portland, September 13, 1946 the daughter of Richard Burton and Laura May (John) Pease.

Judy graduated from Ellsworth High School and the University of Maine, Orono with a BA. She taught school for four years in Jackman prior to her long and successful career with the phone company spanning over 30 years. Judy had the opportunity to show leadership skills that took her to multiple offices ranging from Bangor and Portland to NH and NYC.

She and John enjoyed traveling. She loved sailing the British Virgin Islands with Mary and Doug and shopping in the Grand Bazaar and touring museums with John in Istanbul, Turkey. Domestic travel was always exciting like when they drove to Michigan to visit a zoo they watched on Animal Planet. Florida was a staple in their travel itinerary as well to visit the grandchildren.

Judy was known as the great organizer of fun activities. She was always introducing new games to have family and friends rolling with laughter like "Bayside Squares", Balderdash and Farkel. She also loved playing bridge with "the girls" and Sue and Steve. Another of her greatest joys was taking the boat down the river and watching the wildlife, especially the eagles and seals as well as occasionally just drifting down the bay reading a good book.

She is survived by her husband, John; daughter, Jessica and her children, Aleck, Ben, Jed, and Olivia; son, Rob and wife, Reem and their children, Adam and Judy; and many dear friends. She was predeceased by her parents, Laura and Richard Pease; brother, Robert E. Pease; in-laws, Bill and Olivia Moore.

A celebration of life will be held 11 a.m. October 4, 2014 at the First Congregational Church UCC, 2 Church St., Ellsworth. A reception will follow in the basement of the church.

In lieu of flowers, Judy would appreciate a donation to Birdsacre (Stanwood Wildlife Sanctuary), P O Box 485, Ellsworth 04605. Arrangements are being made by Jordan-Fernald, 113 Franklin St., Ellsworth. Condolences may be expressed at www.jordanfernald.com.
