Juanita's Story

WESLEY - Juanita M. "Norton" Nason, 86, passed away peacefully Tuesday, May 10, 2016, at the Maine Veterans Home in Bangor. Born Aug. 13, 1929, she was the daughter of the late Bill and Effie (Hawkins) Norton of Wesley.

She was predeceased by her husband, Shirley Nason; and son, Stanley. She is survived by her brother, Alton Norton and his wife, Audrey, of Wesley; and many nieces and nephews.

Juanita was a hard worker all her life, mostly as a cook for restaurants, nursing homes, etc. in the Machias and Dresden areas. After retirement she and her husband moved back to her parents home in Wesley, where she was brought up, but could not sit still. She worked at the nursing home in Machias for many years, until she could no longer work full time due to her health. She then worked seasonally at Whitney Originals in Alexander, at Herby Hanscom Blueberry Factory in Marshfield and cooked for the bear hunters in Wesley until a year and half ago.

At her request, there is to be no funeral. A celebration of her life will be held at a later date. A special thanks to the Maine Veterans Home in Bangor for the compassion and care Juanita received while there. She loved all animals, especially her little dogs. In lieu of flowers, she would appreciated if donations in her name were made to The Ark Animal Shelter, P.O. Box 276, Cherryfield, ME 04622 or Wesley Historical Society, 4503 Airline Rd., Wesley, ME 04686.
