ALFRED - Joyce Hilda Pfuhl Morin, 77, passed away peacefully on October 26, 2014, surrounded by her loving family, after a courageous battle with breast cancer.
Joyce was born in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania on March 16, 1937, to John and Frances (Slowik) Pfuhl. She met the love of her life, Roger Morin, while he was in the Navy and they were married on February 24, 1958. Joyce and Roger moved back to his hometown of Madawaska, Maine and together they raised six children. They moved to Alfred, Maine in 2012 to be closer to their children, 13 grandchildren and one great- grandchild.
Joyce's pride and joy were her grandchildren and great-grandchild whom she loved so very much. She took the time to encourage and support them at every opportunity. Grandchildren Jesse, Ali, Paige, Nathaniel, Ethan, Lilly, Jenna, Malia, Emma, Lucas, Isaac, John, Julia and Thomas were truly her light and her life.
Joyce is survived by her husband of 56 years, Roger Morin; her children: Michael and his wife Robin, Terry and her husband P.J. O'Reilley, Dwayne and his wife Shannon; daughters Gail Pickren, Lynelle and her husband Chris Towers and Jennifer and her husband Michael Bryant along with her 13 grandchildren and one great-grandchild. She is also survived by her brother John Pfuhl and his wife Pearl; sisters Ginny Schroeder and husband Dick Schroeder and Elizabeth and her husband Jerry Cunningham and beloved sisters-in-law Shirley Roy and Jean Howard.
The family extends a special thanks to the doctors and nurses at York Hospital and York Home Care, especially Carol and Mary, for the compassionate care they provided. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations in her memory be sent to the York Hospital Home Care Program, 127 Long Sands Road, York, Maine 03909.
A Mass will be held at St. Martha's in Kennebunk, Maine on Saturday, November 1st, at noon. There will be no viewing hours. A private interment will be at Saint Thomas Aquinas Cemetery in Madawaska, Maine in the Spring of 2015.
Joyce is now in heaven with her grandchild Isaac and her mom Frances, playing cards with her brother-in-law, Al Roy.
