Joyce's Story

CALAIS - Joyce Alta (Antone) Hood passed away with her family by her side, at Washington Place Assisted Living,

Calais, ME. on June 19th, 2016 at the age of 81.

Joyce is predeceased by her husband Frank W. Hood of 41 years, a sister Joanne Bridges, mother Margaret Antone, father Arthur Antone and very

special sister in law, Louise Antone.



Joyce is survived and lovingly remembered by son Carl Hood and daughter-in-law Karlene of Lubec, ME. Daughter Pauline McFadden and

son-in-law Steven as well as grandson Bradley of Calais, ME. Also grandson Jared, (Gwen) and special granddaughter Larissa of Hollis, ME. Brother Wayne Antone of Bangor, sister-in-law

Kathleen Schleigh of Knoxville, TN as well as many nieces and nephews to name but not forgotten.





Joyce was born in Pembroke, ME June 28, 1934 and grew up in Dennysville, ME. She moved to Lubec when she married in 1950 and worked at Booth Fisheries for more than 30 years.



Joyce was a devoted mother and housewife for many years. In addition to the many years she resided in "town" she loved her many years and new friends at Sunrise Apartments and Oceanview Nursing Home. She enjoyed several activities there like card games with her many friends and jigsaw puzzels. Dancing was a favorite pastime when she was well, as well as watching many basketball games and spending time with her extended family. She and her husband were

avid "country music" fans. Her first love was was all the time spent with her loving family.



Visitation will be at the Christian Temple Church Lubec, ME on Wednesday June 22, from 6 - 8 PM.

The funeral service will be held there also, at 1 PM on Thursday, June 23rd.



Memorial doations may be made to the American Lung Cancer Society or Down East Hospice Volunteers, Calais, ME.
