Josephine's Story

EAST MACHIAS - Josephine B. (Robinson) Libby, 84, passed away peacefully on March 2, 2016 surrounded by her family who she adored. She was born Jan. 21, 1932 in St. Stephen NB, Canada the daughter of the late Elery and Flora (Sprague) Robinson.

She attended schools in Lubec and Pembroke and graduated from a culinary arts program in Calais, Maine. She worked in many different areas, but was best known for her cooking skills. She won 1st place in the Machias blueberry pie contest 3 years in a row, which she was very proud of. She enjoyed quilting, gardening, and many other hobbies. She especially enjoyed sharing her arts with her community. She was a member of the Jacksonville United Methodist Church, where she loved to volunteer and cook for her church family.

She is survived by her husband of 14 years Harlan Libby; children - Stephen Taylor, Robert Taylor, Barbara Rice, Sara Newell, Flora Zulubski, and step children Francis Tomah, Frederick Moore II, Brenda Moore Mitchell, Nanette Blais, Lynn Talsey, Margaret Moore, Carl Moore, Douglas Moore, and Mary Daigle; many, many, wonderful grandchildren, and great grandchildren, and a brother Jack Robinson. In addition to her parents she was predeceased by two sons Ernest and John Taylor.

A Celebration of Life will be held 1 pm Saturday March 5, 2016 at the Jacksonville United Methodist Church, with Pastor Patti Sears officiating. In lieu of flowers those who wish, may make donations in her memory to the Jacksonville United Methodist Church.
