VENICE, FLA., ERROL, N.H. AND AURORA - Joseph David Siemion, Sr. died peacefully in Bangor, Maine, on December 31, 2015 at the age of 90. Joe had recently moved back to Maine to be nearer his children as he became ill with dementia and Alzheimer's disease.
Joe was born on March 14, 1925 in the Bronx, New York. He was the oldest son of Joseph S. Siemion and Irma (Brandon) Siemion. After graduating from high school he studied at City College in New York and joined the Air Force ROTC. He proudly served his country as a pilot in World War II and in the Korean Conflict, flying missions over Africa and Korea. He married Betty Birchard with whom he raised his first son, Robert C. Siemion. After their divorce, in 1953, while stationed at Dow Field in Bangor, he met and married Mary Mace of Aurora. They resided in Aurora for 25 years; raising a family with Joe becoming a gentleman farmer and a master gardener.
In his later years he lived in Errol, NH with his third wife, Jill Smith Siemion. He lived near his beloved Balsams to play golf and garden before moving to Florida full time, after Jill's death. While in Florida he met and loved a wonderful woman, Dorothy Jennings, with whom he would spend 10 happy years.
Joe was an award-winning salesman for clothing and sock companies in the New England Region. He was an avid traveler in the United States and was always ready to say he had traveled to every state in the Union. He loved gardening and golfing and passed on this love to his children. He was also an avid stamp collector. Joe was devoted to his faith and participated in many life long activities related to his church.
Joe is survived by his children: his daughter Tracey and her husband Steve O'Connell of Orono, Maine, his sons Robert and his wife Christine of Wilson, North Carolina; Michael and his wife Vira of Bar Harbor, Maine; Joe Jr. and his wife Arlene of Pipersville, Pennsylvania; Brandon Siemion of Furlong, Pennsylvania; and Dan and his wife Hoan of Bar Harbor Maine. He was predeceased by his parents, his brother, Robert C. Siemion of Pleasantville NY, his first wife Beatrice, and his ex-wives Mary Mace Siemion of Aurora, Maine and Jill Smith Siemion of Errol, New Hampshire.
