BRADLEY - BRADLEY - Joseph E. Sampson, 86, passed away on March 9, 2014 at an Orono nursing facility. He was born March 2, 1928 in St. Stephen, New Brunswick, the son of Joseph and Alice (Brown) Sampson.
He worked many years in the woods as a logger in the winter, and did construction in the summer. In his later years he worked for the local mills until his retirement. He was an avid outdoors man and enjoyed gardening, hunting, fishing, collection maple syrup, and taking his daily walks on "Grampy's Trail."
He is survived by his loving wife of 54 years, Bettie Sampson of Bradley; four children, Brenda Wasson and her husband, Alvin of Old Town, Linda Wallace and her husband, John of Scarborough, Lana Sampson, Bonnie Sampson; five grandchildren, Cory Wasson of Clermont, FL; Ashley Wallace, Rachel Wallace, Mary Wallace of Scarborough; and three sisters, Mary McNight of Crocker Hill, New Brunswick, Theresa Gayton of Lincoln, New Brunswick, Alice Dinnick of Orangeville, New Brunswick. He was predeceased by two sisters, Madeline Grant Sobol, Eugenia Swain, and one brother, George Sampson.
Gifts in memory of Joseph may be sent to the Animal Orphanage, PO Box 565, Orono, ME 04473-0565. Arrangements are under the care and guidance of Birmingham Funeral Home, 438 Main Street, Old Town.
