- Joseph C. Nagy, Jr., 77, husband of Carolyn C. Nagy, passed away February 2, 2017, surrounded by loved ones. He was born July 6, 1939, in Trenton, NJ, the son of Joseph, Sr. and Thelma (McDonough) Nagy.
He was East Coast Hydroplane Champion at age 17. He went on to become a wood, wire and metal lather and then became a charter boat captain, which he enjoyed mostly on the weekends. During this time, he acquired many fish, such as bluefish and tuna. In 1973, he and his family moved to Cold Stream Pond in Enfield and rented camps and had a small take out shack, then decided, along with his wife, life would be better working only 40 hours a week, so he began working as a Union carpenter until he no longer could. Joe was an avid duck hunter and was a Ducks Unlimited member. Joe and wife Carolyn were married June 30, 1966 and recently celebrated their 50th Anniversary, with a surprise party at Gillmor's in Lincoln.
Joe is survived by his wife, Carolyn and their three daughters and their spouses: Carolyn Jr. and Brent Murchison of Chester, Pegeen and Brent Thompson of Enfield, and Jamie and Todd Footman of Holden; four grandchildren, Morgan and spouse, John Harmon, Brett Murchison, Laci Thompson and Partner, Josh Guiggy and Levi Thompson; three great-grandsons, Eli, Leo and Ian; a nephew, Robbie and his wife, Noel. Funeral services were held Sunday, February 5, 2017. Those who wish may donate to Ducks Unlimited, Inc., One Waterfowl Way, Memphis, TN 38120. www.clayfuneralhome.com.
