St. Francis - Joseph 'Clair' Morris, 84, passed away peacefully June 22, 2017, at the Caribou Veterans Home. He was born in St. Francis on March 24, 1933, the son of John and Adeline (Harvey) Morris.
Clair served in the US Army from 1953 to 1956 during the Korean War. He was a member of the American Legion Jandreau-Connors Post #180 of St. Francis. Clair will be remembered for his love of music and dancing, especially dancing the jig. Clair was an avid woodsman, starting out on the log drives, then cutting wood with horses, and finally harvesting wood with his skidder. He was also a great navigator of the St. Francis, the Allagash, and the St. John rivers. He was a Guide in the Northern Maine Woods. His legacy will live on through the camps he built at Glacier Lake, N.B. He will be dearly missed by his family and friends.
He is survived by his four children: Sherbey and wife Gilda Morris of Fort Kent, Dulcie Ann and husband Martin Flaherty of Gorham, ME, Martin "Mark" Morris of St. Francis, Lorie and husband Richard "Dick" Voisine of St. Francis, twelve grandchildren: Sherbey's children: Heidi, Cassandra, Twyla, Mary Grace, and Saul. Dulcie's children: John and Joseph. Mark's children: Sean, Heather, Mindy. And Lorie's children: Jared and Paige, and by seven great-grandchildren. He is also survived by a special friend and companion: Noella Nadeau of St. Francois, N.B. Canada, and her three children: John, Tina and Cindy Nadeau and by several nieces, nephews, and cousins.
In addition to his parents, he was predeceased by an infant, Beverly Dawn, and his wife Louise Jandreau Morris in 1984, and three brothers: John, Ray, and Fred Morris, and one sister, Sue Ellen Collins.
Friends may call Monday, June 26, 2017 from 6 to 8 p.m. and Tuesday 9 to 10:15 a.m. at the Daigle Funeral Home, Fort Kent. A Mass of Christian burial will be celebrated 11 a.m. Tuesday, June 27, at St. Charles Catholic Church, St. Francis. Committal services with full Military Honors will follow in the St. Francis Catholic Cemetery.
