FORT KENT - Joseph Jean Louis Michaud, 64, passed away Thursday, October 8, 2015 after battling cancer for several weeks at a Brewer healthcare facility with his middle daughter by his side. He was born in Saint Francois, New Brunswick Canada on March 3, 1951 to Laureat J. and Aurore (Bouchard) Michaud.
He grew up in Fort Kent, but spent his adult life mostly in New York where he was a carpenter and construction worker. An eyesight disability caused him to retire early and he returned to Fort Kent nine years ago. He spent his retired years fishing northern Maines' waterways and riding his ATV and snowmobile along the areas un-measured miles of woodlands.
He is survived by three children: Victoria and her husband Arthur Nelson and a son, J.J. (Jean Louis) , both of New York state and Lauren of San Diego, Ca.; a brother and sister-in-law Laurient and Susan (Chambers) Michaud of New Britain, Ct., two sisters and brothers-in-law Hermence and Beurmond Banville of St. Agatha and Jacqueline and Arthur Frederickson of Bristol, Ct. He also leaves several nephews and nieces. He was predeceased by his Father in 2010.
Funeral services will be held at 10 a.m. Saturday, Oct. 17, at the St. Louis Catholic Church in Fort Kent. Cremation services were done by Downeast Direct Cremation LLC.
