Joseph McNichol, 82, died peacefully on Saturday, August 27, 2016, in Waterville.
He was born on March 3, 1934, the son of the late Ralph and Saphrona McNichol.
Joseph was employed for several years at O'Donnell's Express of Houlton, Maine, as a truck driver and enjoyed traveling up and down the state. He later worked for Walpole Woodworking and Maine Fence Company. He was owner and operator of Pittsfield Cedar Products and was a wonderful outside furniture maker for many years. He enjoyed his wood working career and camping with Gloria. Two of their favorite places were Northport and Yonderhill.
He is survived by his children, Stephen McNichol and companion, Vanessa Merrill, of Hartland, Sylvia McNichol and companion, Brian Rogers, of Pittsfield and Richard and Marie McNichol of Hartland; granddaughter, Martinique Allen and husband, Nathan, of Gorham and their daughter, Adrianne Allen; granddaughter, Monique Moody and husband, Andrew, of Pittsfield, currently stationed in Italy; siblings, Charles McNichol and wife, Connie, of Pennysylvania, Leo McNichol and wife, Barbara, of Massachusetts, Fronie Ann McNichol of Massachusetts, Martha Barraclough and husband, Scott, of Maine and Jack McNichol of Massachusetts and many nieces and nephews.
He was predeceased by his parents; his loving wife, Gloria; grandson, Tyler McNichol; and brothers, Paul, Stephen, Albert and Robert.
The family wishes to express their thankfulness for the caregivers at Assistance Plus and to Angela Dunton and Dylan Dunphy. They took wonderful care of their father.
A graveside service will be held at a time to be announced at the Village Cemetery, Peltoma Avenue, in Pittsfield, where he will be laid to rest along with his wife, Gloria.
