Brooksville, FL, and Hampden
- Joseph E. Lounsbury, Sr., 88, died on March 31, 2017, after a brief illness at a hospital in Brooksville near his Florida home. He was born on January 19, 1929 in Orono, the son of Cecilia and Enoch Lounsbury.
Joe became a Seaman Recruit with the US Naval Reserve in July of 1947 and was discharged on February 5, 1951. Three days later he was inducted into the US Army where he served until February 6, 1953 when he was transferred to the US Army Reserves. As a Corporal, he was discharged in August of 1956.

Later on he loved playing cribbage and swapping lies with other long-time members of the Veazie club. His love of fishing included trips to the Matapedia and Miramichi Rivers in New Brunswick, the remote lakes of Northern Quebec, Alaska, and most anywhere with the promise of good fishing. Joe was also an avid golfer and for many years, if you were looking for Joe Lounsbury, the golf course was the first place you'd go. In the later years, Joe took up woodworking and was a master of the scroll saw, creating pieces for numerous friends and family and particularly enjoyed attending the Blue Hill Fair where he offered some of his creations for sale. He was a member of the American Legion Post# 0138, Winterport, and the Knights of Columbus, Pine Cone Council #114, Bangor.
In addition to his wife and parents, Joe was predeceased by his sister Eleanor Leveille, Gloria Gray, Winnifred Danforth, Kenneth Lounsbury, and W. Jane Sternberg.
