Joseph's Story

STETSON - Joseph A. Kennie 47, died unexpectedly May 22, 2016, at his Stetson home, after a long period of ill health. He was born at Fairfield AFB, Spokane, Washington, Dec. 20, 1968, the son of Laurence R. and Donna (Christman) Kennie.

Joseph attended Bonny Eagle schools from age 7, then he went to Westbrook High School so he could play football and also excelled in shot-put, and was the state champion in the discus. He graduated from Westbrook High School and attended 1 year at University of Maine Orono. Joseph was a volunteer firefighter in Standish and was the Rookie of the Year. He worked for the Irwin Company in Gorham for several years, then he worked for Gexpro in Bangor, and at the time of his death he was employed at Gilman Electrical Supply in Newport.

He is survived by his mother, Donna Kennie of Gorham; his loving wife of 9 wonderful years, Carol Kennie of Stetson; his three children by his former wife, Adam Kennie, Joshua Kennie and Hannah Kennie, all of Standish; and two sisters, Angela Vereshko of Limerick and Denise Pierce of Standish.

Memorial services will be held at noon Saturday, May 28, at Cornerstone Baptist Church, 1195 Stetson Road, Exeter. Joe would not be comfortable if he had to dress up, so please dress in comfortable, casual clothes. Camo would be fine.
