BANGOR - Jonathan Briggs Hunt, 65, of Bangor, died Sunday, Aug. 23, 2015 in Bangor. He was born in Bangor and was a graduate of Bangor High School, Middlebury College and Columbia University. He worked as a librarian in Ohio and Pennsylvania. He was an employee at Eastern Maine Medical Center from the 1980's until his recent retirement. He never really understood why people worked so hard putting his greatest interest and effort in researching and collecting books. He also had an eclectic art collection.
Jonathan was the son of June and Lyman Hunt, both deceased. His older brother, Lyman, Jr and niece, Laura are also deceased. Among survivors are his sister, Johanna of Lake Worth, FL; his brothers, William of Dublin, Ireland and Joseph of Bangor; his nieces, Catherine of Strasbourg, France, Emily of London, England and Carin of Dublin, Ireland as well as a grandnephew and four grandnieces including Merantha who he was delighted to meet recently for the first time. He is also survived by his cat, Punzie whose relocation to a good home made him very happy.
Family and friends may visit 4 - 6 PM Thursday, Aug. 27, 2015 at Kiley & Foley Funeral Service, 299 Union St., Bangor. A graveside service honoring Jonathan's life will be held 10 AM Friday, Aug. 28, 2015 at Mt. Hope Cemetery, Bangor. Those attending are asked to meet at the cemetery office, State St. entrance at 9:45 AM. Instead of sending flowers, please donate to the University of Maine Museum of Art in Bangor, The University of Maine's English or Art departments or the a charity of choice.
