East Millinocket - John E. Rouleau, Sr., 74, died peacefully on Thursday, August 4, 2016, with family by his side at a Bangor health care facility due to complications from Alzheimer's Disease. He was born January 22, 1942, in East Millinocket, the son of Pete and Pat (MacDonald) Rouleau.
John grew up in East Millinocket, and worked for many years at the Great Northern Paper Company there. In addition to his time at the mill, John dedicated more than 20 years in public service to the town of East Millinocket and its residents, serving as a volunteer firefighter, town Selectman, and community leader. When not working at the mill or serving the town, he fostered his "need for speed" by working on and riding fast cars, fast snowmobiles, fast boats, and any other mode of transportation that could be coaxed to move a little quicker. John will be remembered by many as a great man who set a wonderful example for others to follow.
He is survived by his wife, Patricia Rouleau of Winter Haven, Florida; four children, Kelly Drayer and her husband, Luke of Hummelstown, Pennsylvania, John Rouleau, Jr. and his wife, Lisa of Old Town, Keith Rouleau and Kris Rouleau, both of Winter Haven, Florida; five grandchildren; a brother, Peter Rouleau and his wife, Freda of Medway; a sister, Mary Harrison and her husband, Rick of Hermon; nieces and nephews, Patty McLaughlin and her husband, Blaine, Peter Rouleau and his wife, April, and Ricala Hafford and her husband, Adam. John was predeceased by his parents.
Friends are invited to visit with the family 5-8 P.M. Wednesday, August 10 at the Lamson Funeral Home, 17 Western Avenue, East Millinocket. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated 11 A.M. Thursday, August 11 at Christ the Divine Mercy Parish, St. Peter's Catholic Church, 58 Cedar St., East Millinocket, with the Rev. Bruce Siket, pastor, presider.
