EAST MILLINOCKET - John Walter Page, Jr., 88, of East Millinocket, ME, passed away peacefully at Colonial Acres in Lincoln, ME from liver failure on April 1, 2016. He was born September 27, 1927 in Medway.
He was predeceased by his parents, John and Lena. He was also predeceased by his beautiful daughter, Bonnie Lee; his loving wife of 45 years, Belle E. (Lord) Page; and two brothers and four sisters.
John graduated in 1945 from Nicatou High School in Medway and he was the last of his classmates to pass on. He served in the US Navy and lived in New York with his sister, Jessie, for a short time. He returned to Medway and worked at Great Northern Paper Mill in East Millinocket and retired in 1988. He enjoyed picking bottles and cans, fishing, fiddleheading, singing and laughing, and especially his coffee and sweets at the local restaurants. He was jokester and liked to make people laugh.
He is survived by his wife, Madalene (Mullen) Page of East Millinocket; a daughter, Joni Hamilton of Winslow; a son, John Page III of Lee; four grandchildren, Brandon Hamilton, Dillon McCannell, Logan McCannell, and Bonnie Page; two great grandchildren, Julien and Kyla.
The family gives a big thank you to Colonial Acres for all they did in the short time John was there. Also, a heartfelt thank you to Mae Rhodes, for all the time, love and selfless acts in caring for John in his last few years of life.
A graveside service will be held at the Grindstone Cemetery on June 4 at 2 p.m.
