John's Story

WINTERPORT - John Aubrey Nason, 68, husband of Donna L. Nason, passed away peacefully at his home, May 12, 2014. He was born in Portland, Aug. 26, 1945, the son of Myron Aubrey and Luena (Littlefield) Nason.

John was a graduate of Winterport High School Class of 1964. He went on to serve in the U.S. Army, Military Police during Vietnam. John became a Master Electrician and was a member I.B.E.W. Local #1253. He was a trustee of the Pension Plan for I.B.E.W. and represented the workers. John worked for E.S. Boulous Company for 25 years. He was a past master of Howard Lodge#69 A.F. & A.M. of Winterport and a Grand Lodge Education Representative for Masonic District #6 from 1997-1999. John also served on the board of directors of Winterport Memorial Library. John and Donna enjoyed working together and building their retirement home in Northport. He enjoyed working with stone and building rock walls, or building anything that was a challenge to him.

He is survived by his beloved wife of 48 years, Donna, his mother, Luena Nason; sisters, Karen Bunker, Sally and her husband, Frank Flewelling and Susan Tolman, brothers, Peter Nason and his wife, Sandra, David Nason and his wife, Claudette, mother-in-law, Margaret Whittier, brother-in-law, Arthur P. Whittier, many nieces, nephews, friends and working companions. He was predeceased by his father, Myron and father-in-law, Fred P. Whittier.

John's family thanks the nurses and staff of the Oncology Department at Waldo County General Hospital and Dr. Elizabeth Connelly for their care and kindness during his illness, and special thanks to the Lafayette Cancer Center of Brewer.

Family and friends are invited to visit from 5-7 p.m. Friday, May 16, 2014 at Hampden-Gilpatrick Funeral Home, 45 Western Avenue, Hampden, where at 7 p.m., the officers and members of Howard Lodge #69 A.F. & A.M. of Winterport, will conduct a Masonic memorial service. Interment will be private at Maine Veterans Memorial Cemetery, Mt. Vernon Road, Augusta.
