John's Story

VAN BUREN - John Madore, 88, passed away November 2, 2014, at a Van Buren health care facility. He was born in Van Buren on June 26, 1926, son of the late Edward and Cecile (Lurette) Madore.

John was a World War II veteran, serving with the U.S. Navy. He was a member of the American Legion, Post #49, of Van Buren.

He is survived by his wife, Adeline (Soucy) Madore of Van Buren; six daughters, Barbara Parent and her husband, Gerard, of Van Buren, Karen Parent and her husband, Raphael, of St. Anne, New Brunswick, Geri Kuczynski and her husband, John Sr., of Derry, NH, Della Powderly and her husband, H. Evan, of Pawling, NY, Donna Picard and her husband, Michael, of Millinocket, Debra Sirois and her husband, Gary, of Yarmouth; four sons, Richard Madore and his wife, Ann Marie, of Hampden, Michael G. Madore Sr. and his wife, Ginette, of Bristol, CT, Jimmy Don Madore of Van Buren and Gary J. Madore and his wife, Mary Jeanne, of Calais; 25 grandchildren; many great-grandchildren; and one brother, Eugene Madore and his wife, Marcella, of Coventry, CT. John was predeceased by his first wife, Fernande J. (Thibodeau) Madore; one son, Gerald Madore; one granddaughter, Carrie Madore; two sisters, Geraldine and Lorraine; and one brother, Norman.

A Mass of Christian burial will be celebrated 11 a.m. Friday, Nov. 7, 2014, at the St. Bruno/St. Remi Church. Family and friends may call at Lajoie Funeral Home from 9 a.m. until 10:30 am.
